Almost scammed for a job vacancy

I recently applied for a job.

Within a few hours I got an email saying I had an interview.
I was available within a few few hours that same do so later I had a phone call with a supposed colleague of the first person.

Within a few hours I got an email saying I had a self paced interview on jobs-bp.com. This turned out to be a set of questions on a website designed to be a phishing tool. This domain of the person who emailed me and for the interview (@randstadrecruiter.com) was registered a few days earlier which is a huge red flag. The owners of the domains sound nothing like a legit name.

36 hours later I was given an offer letter for immediate start. A total of 72 hours had now elapsed and I got a job offer- WOW! I must be something else. There were formatting errors in the offer letter. The person who supposedly sent it has recently started with a new company. The scammers must not have checked his profile recently. The offer mentioned the real address of a company office but this is part of a typical scam- blending real with believable. The BPsite currently has no vacancies because they are on a big drive to cut jobs.

This scam has a lot of pieces that can be verified like the domain, phone numbers, email addresses etc and this is considerable work (and skill!) that went into this. There are those who would rather scam desperate and vulnerable people than putting their skills to good use. Be careful out there.

I had applied on a legit site (ziprecruiter) but the company which posted\received the ad was fake. I can only imagine the number of people who would go though this to completion and sent copies of their real IDs. This would lead to identity, theft, fraud and other illegal activities. I have reported this job ad in particular but who knows how many others are out there.

How to move to Canada

I am not an immigration consultant and this is not legal advice.
There are a few sites you should check first as you begin your process to migrate to Canada.

1. https://applications.wes.org/ca/degree-equivalency-tool/
This will tell you by a typical guide whether your degree will count for point in the immigration process. For official results you must pay fees and submit the documentation before you can actually use the results for immigration.

2. https://www.canadavisa.com/comprehensive-ranking-score-calculator.html#gs.wDxzjit9
This is a pretty good indicator of whether you have enough points to apply and be over the required total.

3.https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/submit-profile/rounds-invitations/results-previous.html
The scores in recent draws. Use this to compare your score from the link above.

4. https://www.canada.ca/en/services/immigration-citizenship.html
The official Canadian Government website.
